Update Overview

Chimera has released a new update with an important Unlock / Relock Bootloader procedure for supported Qualcomm devices, new Samsung Qualcomm programmers and several general software improvements.

The new bootloader procedure works in EDL mode and is available for devices based on the Qualcomm SM8850 and Qualcomm SM8845 chipsets.

Use these procedures only on devices you own, manage or are authorized to service.

Unlock / Relock Bootloader Added

A new Unlock / Relock Bootloader procedure is now available in Chimera for supported Qualcomm SM8850 and SM8845 devices.

The operation works through EDL mode and allows technicians to unlock or relock the bootloader on supported models when a compatible programmer is available.

Besides the currently listed devices, this procedure is expected to work on other Oppo, Vivo, Motorola and Qualcomm-based devices as well, depending on programmer availability.

The following devices are currently supported for the new Unlock / Relock Bootloader procedure:

This Chimera update also adds new programmers for Samsung Qualcomm devices. The following Samsung models and BIT versions are supported:

Note: Remove KnoxGuard support works up to the February 2024 security update.

General Improvements

This update also includes several general improvements and fixes:

Added a new border customization option in Settings
Improved Network Factory Reset (Eligible) procedure
Updated the integrated Magisk version
Fixed an issue where devices could get stuck in Samsung Modem Mode
The region selector is now displayed again after logging out

Why This Update Matters

This update is important for technicians working with newer Qualcomm-based devices. The new Unlock / Relock Bootloader procedure expands Chimera support for SM8850 and SM8845 platforms through EDL mode, while the Samsung Qualcomm programmer update brings support for newer BIT versions on popular Galaxy models.

The Samsung additions are especially useful for repair shops handling Galaxy S24, S24 Ultra, S23 Ultra, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, S21 FE and selected A/F/Tab series devices.
